E-Mail Problem
Are the spammers slowly killing legitimate e-mail? In the never ending war with “spammers,” which are those e-mail operators that send out Spam e-mail to ga-zillions of people everyday, legitimate e-mail operators have been aggressive in filtering our e-mail because customers demand it because some people’s e-mail is 80 to 90% Spam. Ug! The legitimate e-mail operators have installed systems to attempt to automatically send some Spam e-mail to junk folders. You can look at them but most people don’t take the time. Some e-mail operators take things a bit further by “blocking” e-mail, which means that you never see it. Some e-mail operators are blocking other e-mail operators completely from certain countries because they are sending nothing but Spam and some of those e-mail operators are in Asia.
The effect is that you and I might not be getting 100% of our legitimate e-mail 100% of the time because of the filters and blocking. On a percentage basis, generally it’s not a huge issue but one missed legitimate e-mail is one too many. Right? The e-mail operators are doing their best to filter or block Spam e-mail. The spammers are figuring out ways to get around the filters and the blocked e-mail. E-mail operators were blocking or filtering e-mail sent in balk but that caused a problem for newsletters and other legitimate e-mail lists. The newsletters and legitimate e-mail lists had to prove their worth and get themselves on “always accept” white lists.
So, the point is that you are probably not getting 100% of your e-mail 100% of the time and the e-mail you send is not getting to its destination 100% of the time either. Maybe. Be aware. Look for it. Think about it. Work around it. Make a phone call to ask if they received your “most important” e-mail. Maybe, ask for an “RSVP” when they receive your “most important” e-mail because of the filters and blocks. Snail-mail? Now that’s taking things too far! Right? Live long and prosper.
