There are six different strains of Hepatitis. Hepatitis is a virus that affects the liver, causing its enlargement, sometimes resulting in liver failure. Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, decreased appetite, tenderness in the upper right abdomen, dark urine, light colored feces, and yellowed skin or eyes. Left untreated the victims can fall into a coma or die. The two most common forms of Hepatitis are called Hepatitis A and B. Hepatitis A is spread through food and water contamination. Once again, under cooked or raw shellfish and seafood along with raw vegetables are the likely sources of Hepatitis A. Symptoms develop about one month after exposure to the virus. Hepatitis B is more serious than Hepatitis A because it results in chronic liver disease. It is spread through blood transfer rather than by eating. This can happen during medical surgical or dental procedures, during immunization with improperly sterilized syringes, while being tattooed or having a shave, or through sexual contact. So if you have been eating under cooked or raw food or have been doing any of the above activities, be aware of the symptoms and get to the doctors as soon as possible if those symptoms occur. Maybe it’s time for your check up anyway. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the world's longest reigning monarch, is the ninth King of the Chakri Dynasty which was established in 18th century Thailand. Throughout his reign the King has and continues to support democratic principles, technological development, and a variety of social and rural community projects. His many travels through Thailand, often in disguise, have provided him with first hand knowledge of the living conditions of his subjects. As a result, this King has sponsored many types of assistance for the Thai people, frequently funding such assistance programs from his private funds. His Majesty is the supreme guardian of Thai Buddhism but supports religious freedom in Thailand. It is partly because of his enlightened approach to the monarchy and its subsequent reflection in the friendliness and openness of the Thai people, that the Headquarters of the World Fellowship of Buddhism is located in Thailand. Revered by the Thai people as the soul of the Thai kingdom, His Majesty is for all the world a model of compassion and sincerity. We in the U.S. are proud that Cambridge, Massachusetts is His Majesty's birthplace. We seek to honor his life and work by building a Buddhist Temple in his name, near his birthplace. We also would like to extend our sincere congratulations to His Majesty on his birthday, Thursday December the 5th and we wish him many more birthdays to come.
